SPECIAL END OF VINTAGE - OATES ENDS TEMPRANILLO ROSE
Tempranillo is a vibrant, ripe berry fruited variety with loads of fresh strawberry flavour. Harvested in the cool of the night to retain maximum fruit aromas and flavours the Tempranillo then pressed immediately to give just the faintest blush tint to the wine. A cool fermentation in conditioned french oak barriqes for maturation for 9 months gives a lovely savoury spice to the wine and allowed for four months of resting on lees to add some creamy texture to the palate.
Nick Butler - The Real Wine Review, 94 points. "Pale orange colour, no trace of pink. The nose is instantly compelling, oak adds spice and complexity, stewed cherries and raspberry crumble. Barrel-ferment caramel lends a new element to the palate, grapefruit and lemons, a real fumé blanc sensibility. This is delicious. Needs time to settle." Drink 2019-2024
Halliday Wine Companion 2021, 90 points. "Ultra pale salmon-pink; a good rose petal bouquet and an even better palate with spicy/smoky red berry fruits ex fermentation in used barriques, plus 4 months on lees post fermentation."
